Antwerp Hoteliers show commitment to local community: Food Collection Initiative for Homeless People

In a remarkable gesture of solidarity, Antwerp Hoteliers have once again committed to the local community by collecting food and basic products for homeless people in Antwerp. The annual initiative, organised by the responsible business working group within the Antwerp Hotel Association, demonstrates their commitment to sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and local impact.

Traditionally, the board of the Antwerp Hotel Association swapped their offices for cargo bikes, with the responsible business working group playing a central role. This working group, dedicated to sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and local impact, organises an annual bike ride through Antwerp to collect food and other staples for the benefit of CAW-Antwerp.

This year, Tourism and Mobility alderman Koen Kennis was present to support the initiative, highlighting how hoteliers play a crucial role in promoting social responsibility. Logistical support was made possible by Cargoroo, which provided cargo bikes free of charge.

A total of 36.3 kilometres were covered, visiting 14 hotels and collecting no fewer than 20 full cargo bikes. This impressive result reflects not only the generosity of Antwerp hoteliers, but also their willingness to make a positive impact on the local community.

Looking to the future, opportunities for a more structural collaboration are being actively explored, with hoteliers committed to sustainable solutions that will have a lasting positive impact on the community in which they operate.
